UNDER 20 – KSAFA SHOCKING VIBES 2003
The 2003 season of the KSAFA / Shocking Vibes Under 20 football season commenced on July 6, 2003 with a game against Tivoli Gardens. Training had previously started a month earlier with some 30 players in the campaign. The squad for the season was as follows:

PRELIMINARY ROUNDS

HVFC vs. TIVOI GARDENS 5-1
Goal Scorers: Kamar Petrekin – 2 Anthony Christie – 2 Rohan Reid

We managed to catch our perennial rivals off guard as they lost their goalkeeper and captain early in the game. We took full advantage of the situation and scored five wonderfully crafted goals.

HVFC vs. SEAVIEW 2-1
Goal Scores: Kamar Petrekin Rohan Reid

Not the best of conditions to play at Seaview, but we scored early in the game, weathered the late onslaught of the home team and scored again, against the run of play in the dying minutes of the game.

HVFC vs. WHITFIELD TOWN 18-0
Goal Scores: Kamar Petrekin – 9 Lovel Palmer – 2 Kevin Rose – 2 Andre Whyte – 2 Anthony Christie – 1 Rohan Reid – 1 Theodore Washington

Barely managed to raise a sweat. The team showed its goalscoring prowess with the top marksman scoring all of nine goals.

HVFC vs. CAVALIERS 4-2
Goal Scores: Kamar Petrekin – 2 Ondino Griffiths – 1 Anthony Christie

Played a tactically good game against a determined team. Got complacent in the latter stages and conceded two goals. The team was by now a serious contender for the title and was very much on a roll with their form.

HVFC vs. SANTOS 1-0
Goal Scores: Luton Shelton

By far the strongest team we played so far in the competition. They needed a win to advance while we needed to maintain our winning streak. We did so in style with Shelton getting his first goal of the competition. We ended the round with maximum points and were now firmly rooted as favourites to take the title having defeated the strong defending champions.

HVFC vs. AUGUST TOWN 3-1
Goal Scores: Kamar Petrekin – 1 Luton Shelton – 1 Akeem Priestley - 1

We totally outclassed the opponents in all departments and basically demonstrated very good football skills and movement off the ball. This was our best playing game and it really soared our confidence.

HVFC vs. TIVOLI GARDENS 6(1) – 5(1)
Goal Scores: Don-Reece Edwards – 1

Playing against this team twice in the same competition was never going to be easy. They literally pushed us to our limits. Captain Edwards scored an equalizing goal, his first in many moons, responding immediately to Rafeik Thomas’ strike. The game extended into extra time, where the hard work of the team stood out. Lovel Palmer, Mitchily Waul, Ryan Thompson, Mardio Simpson and Kamar Petrekin all scored from the spot to give Harbour View a penalty shoot out win and a place against Waterhouse in the finals.

HVFC vs. WATERHOUSE 2-1
Goal Scores: Luton Shelton – 1 Kamar Petrekin – 1

As in the previous game, the team rallied from a goal down to defeat a spirited Waterhouse team. Shelton responded well after Waterhouse struck first. The game proved to be a thriller with the “Firehouse” team having the better of the exchanges. Harbour View was contented to be patient and sat behind the ball for long periods, awaiting the opportunities. It was from one such move that Petrekin beat the offside trap and calmly slotted home from close range. Waterhouse threw everything into attack, but the solid defence led by Washington and goalkeeper Ryan Thompson, withstood everything.

Harbour View won the competition for the third time, having won in 1998 and 1999. This team loses only two players and will report unbeatable for next year’s competitor.
