HARBOUR VIEW  Celebrates its’ 30th  Anniversary (March 4th,1974)  all season long 2003- 2004
THE HARBOUR VIEW FOOTBALL CLUB

celebrates it's 30th  Anniversary (March 4th,1974) all season long 2003- 2004.

Since the days when the eager citizens of Harbour View grouped together at the Harbour View Primary School halls to meet and greet each other all around The love of football mostly then at the Minor League Under 16 years level before taking the conscious decision to enter the Major League in September 1974 after electing officers in the newly formed Harbour View Football Club previously named after the community  only – Harbour View.

HARBOUR VIEW HELD TO A SCORELESS DRAW BY STAR COSMOS AT BROWN’S TOWN, ST. ANN.

Addison Parks’ poor field condition was the most memorable aspect of a game that vaguely resembled football as the disappointed league leaders dragged themselves away from the picturesque hilltop town with only a point to show.

The rainy season made a perfect mess of a surface that was never ever going to lend itself to a good game of football because of its unevenly prepared nature based on a muddy texture of clay highlighted by a unplayable cricket pitch smack dab in the middle of it.

The newly upgraded complex was pleasantly beautified by the wide range of people that assembled keen on enjoying their new found Premier League status while crowding the hills above the grounds they shouted, danced and cheered gleefully at every half chance imaginable but unfortunately the attackers did not possess the ability to score.

Harbour View played without enthusiasm in trying to contain them, stayed out of trouble and sort to score occassionally while avoiding injuries. Those efforts goalwards was handled most times on the second attempt by the custodian who relished the damp conditions.

With 20 points we still lead the League with a game in hand against Reno rescheduled for next Tuesday November 4th at Reno, closely followed by Waterhouse and Portmore United (formerly Hazard) on 19 points, Tivoli Gardens on 18 and Village United on 16 points round of the top five places. The final round of games will take place this Sunday.

HARBOUR VIEW PLAYS RIVOLI UNITED AT THE COMPOUND AT 3:00 PM .

HARBOUR VIEW MARCHES ON TOWARDS MID-SEASON FINALS WITH A HARD FOUGHT 2-1 VICTORY OVER TIVOLI GARDENS.

Fabian Taylor’s early strike after four minutes set the pace for his strike partner Luton Shelton to increase the first half lead to 2-0 when he ran onto yet another Jermaine Hue excellently weighted through pass to steer his left-footer wide of the advancing Edsel Scott in the Tivoli goal. With 27 minutes on the clock and counting the West Kingston unit looked a troubled bunch but was let of the hook when Fabian Taylor one-on-one was parried wide by Scott, then a similar play repeated itself with Shelton shooting wide.

Slowly each attacking move by Tivoli came closer and closer as Roland Deans’ header beat Leon Gordon to hit the upright and then the cool William Richards dribbled nonchalantly out of danger to the annoyance of the Tangerine and Black massive that had assembled.

Fabian Davis’s freekick was expertly handled by Gordon as he brought leadership to his team assisted by good runs down the left from Christopher Jackson and genuine hardwork mixed with skill from Marvin Morgan in midfield but the Harbour View defensive unit stood firm.

Harbour View Cheerleaders’ The Harbour View Primary School Grade 3

The second half arrived after the intermission bubbled with the performance of the now popular ‘Harbour View Cheerleaders’ as they danced and pranced to disco and reggae music. The Harbour View Primary School Grade 3 gave a most heart-warming rendition to celebrate Heroes Week under the guidance of their teacher. The major upheaval was yet to come as Christopher Nicholas made his grand entrance onto the field around the hour mark and he soon outfoxed the clever defence to score from an acute angle in the 73rd minute. As Hue was stretchered off injured, Daniel Shaw was relieved of his duties after suffering from the flu all week and Richards substituted for Sean Fraser all meant the senior midfielders were replaced by less experienced players when Tivoli was on the ascendency.

Harbour View repeated their mistakes in the first half when Taylor, then Hue and then substitute Fraser all beat the defensive offside trap but failed to beat the onrushing Scott.

Tivoli attacked and Harbour View held firm until FIFA Referee signalled the end of the game with Harbour View extending their lead to 19 points 4 more points than second placed Waterhouse who drew 1-1 with defending champions Portmore United (formerly

Hazard United) fourth on 13 points one behind Village United with 14 points in third spot.
