30th ANNIVERSARY WITH DEVASTATING 6-0 TRASHING OF STAR COSMOS
Nicholas McCreath scores
hatrick, Jomo Gordon two.
With
the news of Fabian Taylor being ready to go on loan to the MLS
franchise the New York/New Jersey MetroStars soon the other
strikers are in a race to takeover the number one spot.
First to open his account was
Nicholas McCreath in minute 23 when he tapped home a
right-sided square from Lovell Palmer. Four minutes later Greg
Gardner and McCreath darted left with the defenders in tow as
Daniel Shaw went right, the quick thinking Jermaine Hue went
to Shaw who lobbed the advancing goalkeeper to make it two
nil, until the break.
Minute 65 was the advent of the
third goal as substitute Jomo Gordon completed a sweet move
from Daniel Shaw to McCreath who shunted to gordon twelve
yards out to score.
He repeated the feat in the
82nd when he outsmarted the defenders at the halfline sprinted
goalwards to beat the goalkeeper and score his second.
As if challenged for
superiority, McCreath came alive by converting Craig Stewart’s
left-sided cross. Then latching onto a through pass from Shaw,
to be cut down twice, in the area, before getting up to
complete a hatrick, when he stroked home the resulting penalty
kick in the 90th minute, too round out the 6-0 routing.
The return leg is on Wednesday
at Gray’s Inn in St. Mary.

HARBOUR VIEW EMERGES WITH STUNNING 4-0 VICTORY OVER ST. MARY
CONTENDERS STAR COSMOS AT HOME!
After
going down to a disappointing 3-0 loss recently to Arnett
Gardens in a closely contested game where plagued by extensive
injuries, absence through national duties and poor defending
made a mockery of the real game. “The Stars of the East”
cruised to a comfortable comeback to trounce bottom of the
league team Star Cosmos who were have their best period by not
losing in the third round as against the poor form of “the
View” in not winning in the round. All that changed quickly as
players took on role responsibilities in the absence of the
injured leading goal-getter Fabian Taylor to register their
first goals for the season led by Nicholas McCreath with two
strikes, Greg Gardner with the opener and Daniel Shaw
returning from injury in October 2003 to top it off late in
the game. The presence of physical trainer Neville Myton and
assistant coach Calvert Fitzgerald helped rejuvenate the
sluggish form of the team.
Changes in the starting line-up
significantly signaled a more purposeful effort from the
outset where custodian Leon Grey re-emerged between the
sticks, National defender and captain Damian Stewart
returned after an outstanding performance against Uruaguay,
midweek, Clifton Wuagh back from injury, Christopher Harvey
returns from national Under 23 Olympic qualifiers in Mexico,
Jermaine Hue restated his presence after much acclaim in the
national tour in China accompanied there by promising young
talent Lovell Palmer while Greg Gardner partnered McCreath
upfront abandoning the one-man attack instituted in the former
game.
Donald Stewart assisted Greg
Gardner to open the scoring after 28 minutes when he rounded
the goalkeeper, then Jermaine Hue found McCreath to improve
the scoreline in minute 42 to go the break with a 2-0
advantage. Many forays into the opponents penalty area bore no
fruit as shots from McCreath and a sizzling swerving drive
from 23 yards out by Hue slammed the bar, Scarlett, Hue and
Gardner hit wide and Stewart headed over the crossbar from a
corner all meant the score should have increased in the first
half.
Similar
dominance in the second half continued as the improved
physical preparation showed but lapses by Sean Fraser,
McCreath, Gardner, Harvey, Stewart and Scarlett all added to
the scoreline being lesser than impressive until McCreath from
a Harvey cross then Daniel Shaw worked his way through the
area to finish off a strong game blemished by ineffective
finishing to remain joint second in the league with Portmore
United who defeated Constant Spring by 1-0.
The Under 21 team leap-frogged
over Star Cosmos into third place overall by securing a 1-0
win courtesy of the returning injured national Under 23
striker Luton Shelton in minute 63.

HARBOUR
VIEW LETS IN LATE GOAL AS RENO RECOVERS IN 1-1 DRAW.
PREMIER LEAGUE:
The
ever reliable Fabian Taylor made his mark on the score sheet
for the sixth consecutive Premier League game when he hit home
a volley from the top of the box past National goalkeeper
Aaron Lawrence in minute 41.
Good goalkeeping in addition to
inaccurate finishing caused the scoreline to remain at 1-0 at
the break as both Reno and Harbour View attackers each shot
wide twice from close-in from difficult angles.
Substitute Delvano Brown came
on just before the halftime interval to alter all that when he
seemingly duplicated Taylors’ strike from the exact same spot
in minute 63 to level the score and give Reno a share of the
points on their trip back to Westmoreland.
Taylor,Craig Stewart, Rohan
Afflick and Dino Williams all failed to open the gap between
both teams as they tried to secure victory that in the end
proved elusive, while Reno counter-attacked twice to evoke
fears of losing three valuable points at the business end of
the season.
Harbour View slipped to third
overall on joint 44 points with Portmore United (+20) but with
a lesser goal difference (+17). Tivoli leads on 48 points.
UNDER 21:
Kemar
Petrekin continued his unslaught on the junior league
goalscoring title as he again scored to take his tally to 15
in the record breaking time of 18 seconds.
He was supported by goals from
midfielder Anthony Christie and Mervin Miller, his first for
the club since joining within the new transfer window during
January 2004.
They remain in fourth position
overall on 27 points.
