| 1977 |
| Our international exposure began in the season of 1977 against the touring OSTERS IF of Sweden who defeated us by 4 goals to nil. We were know
baptised. Having a taste of the 'big game' we all wanted to make another attempt, quickly. |
| 1979 |
| We would have had to wait until May 22nd 1979, when we challenged the Professional unit from Trinidad. K & SI Pheonix Club, led by the experienced Evrod
'Gally' Cummings ,Selries Figero and Tom Phillips in the CONCACAF Club tournament where we competed for the first time based on qualification as joint second place team with SANTOS behind the defending Champions of 1978 ARNETT GARDENS. We lost 1-0 at the San Fernando Park, but lost 3-1 the next day at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad (4-1 aggregate) with our goal a 30 yard blast from Mark 'Big bird' Salmon. The outstanding performance of a 20 year old Centre-half Keith Cunningham did not go unnoticed and he was invited to go pro, if he did well at the trials in Trinidad, unfortunately it did not
materialise. |
| 1982 |
| Grand Cayman would be our first taste of sweet International Victory when we defeated Scholars
F.C. and the Cayman National team.in a two game series in the Cayman Islands. |
| 1984-5 |
| As Champions of KSAFA Major League we played Port Limon Champions of Costa Rico just two days after an emotional and exhuasting extra -time victory against the mighty Boys Town. We went down 1-0 at the National Stadium. |
| 1987-8 |
|
| Our next sojourn in the CONCACAF Club Championship was against Champions Etoile of Guadelope in Guadelope a relentless cheering party pushed their team to a favourable 3-1
scoreline. The return game at the National Stadium Captain Linval Mckenzie led our team to a 1-0 victory in normal time, a 20 yard shot scored by Mark Salmon. The away goal rule not then in effect, we played extra time and then lost on penalties by 1-3 after brilliant saves by goalkeeper Geolier
Gervais.
Our outstanding midfielder Altimont Butler was offered a professional contract with he took up, playing two years in Guadelope as well as in France. |
| 1994 |
| The voyage on the sponsors boat 'Carnival Queen' landed us in Cuba for a two game series versus Europa 1-1 and 0-0 games at the Stadium in Santiago. These games were a fair indicator of the defensive prowess of both units in the communist state laced with warm friendly citizens.
The opening of the newly built Stadium in June 1994 for the inaugural Caribbean Major League Football involving Clubs ( Caledonia
AIA) from Trinidad, ( Lambada ) from Barbados, (Cornwall County Lions) from western Jamaica- the teams in our zone.
Our young team made up of Barrington
Gaynor, Onandi Lowe, Tyrone Davis and Neil Stewart had a promising entry against teams that were primarily National squads, the more experienced pros were severely tested on the field but the real highlights was the widely acclaimed 7,000 seater football stadium - a landmark fixture. The first and only one of its kind
,soley owned by a Caribbean Football Club. Special guests include CONCACAF boss Jack Warner, and then JFF Official Horace Burrell who offered all his services as Match Commissary Free of charge as his token of goodwill for the highly publicised new football arena. Thank you Mr. Carvel Stewart and the CFC Construction Company - Building our dreams on time! |
| 1995 |
| We entertained a travelling Bermuda team at the Compound in a friendly losing 2-1. |
| 1996 |

The 'REGGAE BOYZ'made their triumphant entry into the WORLD CUP in France, and amongst them were three HVFC players Peter Cargill (now Head Coach), Onandi Lowe (now Leading
goalscorer) and a 19 year old Ricardo Gardner -now first million pound Transferred player to English 1st Division Club Bolton Wanderers on June 30th. |
| 1999 |
| The Cayman Islands were to beat us for the first time after the first game ended in a draw.
Former players Clennon Clrake and Altimont Butler's team Bronx Rockers entertained us during July in New York for one game which we won by 4-1.
DISNEYWORLD Tournament in Orlando, Florida was our next assignment with both our Under 12 and 16 teams competing creditably, including youngsters Keith Kelly,Sean Fraser,Akeem Preistley and Andre
Whyte. Our Under 12 team would excel to be second overall in their first International quest. They returned home to a royal 'welcoming party' of parents ,friends and well wishers at the airport . A sight that will be remembered forever. |
